FIREARMS INCIDENTS INCREASE FIVE FOLD SINCE 1997

Neil Carmichael, Parliamentary Spokesman for Stroud, reacted with shock and dismay when it was confirmed in Parliament that firearms incidents in Gloucestershire had increased by well over 500% since 1997. In numbers, there were 41 incidents in 1996/1997 with 229 for this year.

Neil Carmichael commented, “Such a dramatic increase is a great worry. It also proves that the Labour Government has completely failed to curb violent crime.

“It is high time that our police officers were unburdened with all of the unnecessary bureaucracy that Labour has introduced and, instead, encouraged to ‘get out and about’ as much as possible.”
