Businesses meet to discuss credit crunch

Neil Carmichael, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP and Charles Fisher answer questions on the implications of the credit crunch - cash flow dominated the discussion
Neil Carmichael, Parliamentary Candidate for Stroud, welcomed Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP (Shadow Minister for Trade and International Development), Charles Fisher and over forty local business leaders to Stroud College for a business breakfast. The ongoing credit crunch and implications for the local economy were highlighted.
Neil Carmichael commented, “It is clear that cash flow for many businesses is going to be a critical issue in the next year or so. Banks are still being cautious about lending and strict about existing terms.
“It is essential that measures are introduced to ease cash flow problems. Conservatives have promoted several ideas to do exactly that, including cutting payroll taxes for small companies to boost jobs, deferring small business VAT bills and insolvency reform to help save jobs.”
