Neil Carmichael attends ‘Community Engagement event’ to discuss Sharpness Recycling Centre
Monday, March 29th, 2010
The Sharpness facility utilises an advanced biological treatment process to convert household biodegradable waste into high grade compost.
Neil Carmichael, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Stroud, went to Sharpness Village Hall to meet with representatives of New Earth Solutions, owners and operators of the Recycling Centre.
Neil Carmichael commented, “Recycling is the key to successful management of waste and should be encouraged. Landfill is, quite rightly, now the last option for waste disposal.
“This particular technology deals with a range of biodegradable wastes, including green waste, kitchen waste, paper, cardboard and wood, and creates and high quality compost which is available to local farmers. In addition to recovering a valuable resource for reuse this process plays an important role in reducing green house emissions.”
“Successful waste management facilities must integrate with and take into account the needs and concerns of neighbours and local stakeholders. New Earth Solutions are working hard to do exactly that.”
