Dursley Job Club Update
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009
30% of people find work through friends, family or networks
A ‘Job Club’ has been launched in Dursley and has already scored some successes. The Club meets twice a month in Dursley Library. The next meeting is on Monday 21 September, starting at 10.00am.
The Club focuses on learning to write a CV, mock job interviews, occasional expert speakers, training opportunities and costs, and researching into local companies looking to recruit.
All meetings review progress on individual job applications and offer advice on ways forward, help to acquire knowledge about job opportunities, provide support in specific areas of interest, encourage a positive attitude for all job seekers and advise on making job applications.
Neil Carmichael commented, “An early success for the Club has encouraged everybody. It is fantastic to hear that the Club has ‘[enabled me] to chat face to face – something the Job Club promotes’ and ‘people in similar circumstances being able to help each other’.
